A Letter From The Founder

Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
— Psalm 37:4

My goodness, I can testify to the truth of this promise! In 2012, I took a short term mission trip to (what was then known as) Swaziland, Africa. I saw first hand what life is like for people who live in extreme poverty and witnessed children living alone in tiny huts with no caregiver because their parents had succumbed to AIDS. As a mother of four children, this reality was horrifying! I cried for days after that trip. I understood very deeply how much the plight of these children breaks the Father’s heart. That trip forever changed my life, as well as the future of my family. Over the last eight years we have returned to the Kingdom of eSwatini more than a dozen times. Orphan to Heir was officially launched in 2017 when it became very apparent that God was doing something much larger than we had ever imagined. Our steadfast commitment to the relationships developed over the years has opened many doors of ministry and influence.

I BELIEVE THAT GOD has purposed Orphan to Heir to reach, rescue, and restore the children who have been left orphaned by the HIV/ AIDS epidemic. This is no small task. It requires the coordinated efforts of educators, government officials, and other organizations within the community to advocate for and protect these children. We have developed strong relationships with the community leaders, specifically in the poorest community of eSwatini, Mpolonjeni. Working remotely and traveling biannually to Mpolonjeni, Orphan to Heir has had a key role in bringing about some remarkable improvements to the well-being of the children there. Our strategy has been a bit unique among other missional and non-governmental organizations. Working primarily with the local Christian churches, Orphan to Heir is equipping churches and families with the resources, training, and support they need in the hopes that every orphan in the community will be placed in a loving family home. Working alongside more than 50 community pastors, WE HAVE ENCOURAGED UNITY ACROSS DENOMINATIONAL LINES and have seen the spiritual landscape of Mpolonjeni change markedly. Orphan to Heir has invested in the local churches in multiple ways. For example, we have sponsored pastor’s ministerial educational costs, conducted women’s conferences for female pastors, purchased bibles in the SiSwati language, and trained church leaders on how to develop a children’s ministry. Most importantly, we have built trusting relationships.

Our ministry has seen an EXPLOSIVE GROWTH over the last three years. The momentum we have gained simply cannot be sustained, nor can we increase our influence by operating remotely. It is our prayer and our vision to build a facility that can house our ministry and all of its activity on site. The Lord has given us great favor with the people of the community, as well as with the King’s representatives, the Chiefs of Mpolonjeni. Last April, the five Chiefs of the area granted us a 5 hectare parcel of land in the center of Mpolonjeni for the purpose of ministry to the churches and the children of their community. To be given land as a foreigner...and a female, at that, is unprecedented! This is truly a gift from the hand of God! I pray that you will catch the vision that God has put in our hearts to impact the children and families of Mpolonjeni as you consider partnership with Orphan to Heir. I ask for your prayerful consideration as to how you may be a part of making this vision a reality. Your faithful prayers are always much appreciated as well.
